Background
After visiting with Sr. Phyllis Hunhoff and spending a year as an oblate novice, I made my final commitment in 2010 to become an Oblate of Saint Benedict associated with Sacred Heart Monastery in Yankton, South Dakota. I believe The Rule of St. Benedict provides guidance in living life that is well balanced, filled with spiritual enrichment, and connected to God and other believers. Using Lectio Divina enables me to understand Scripture at a deep level. Saying morning and evening prayers helps me effectively worship my God and Savior. And following the Rule helps me live in community. After spending thirty years in healthcare administration, I now teach nursing administration and healthcare leadership at Nebraska Wesleyan University.
